So, I snagged a freak kit for cheap...
Is it worth it to upgrade to a freak compatible barrel on my G1? Thinking DW Fibur barrel or a Lapco assault that might get freak bored later. Ideas? |

Is the G1 Ion threaded? If so you might be able to get an ion threaded barrel back fairly cheap. I use the freak inserts on all my guns, it's a good cheap way of bore sizing. Some say there are better barrel systems out there, but none I have found to be as affordable.

Hadn't considered getting a Freak back + front. Do Freak backs for say... an Ion... have front threads for an Ion barrel? I guess I should poke around eBay or some of the BST threads around. The DW Fibur barrel is looking mighty sexah right now tho. |

Freak threaded barrels have two parts. front and a back.
Back is propietary to the marker - Ion, Autococker (most common), A5, etc. Front is proprietary to the freak system. Any front you buy will work on any freak back. Many people just buy different freak backs since they are reasonably inexpensive (although the autococker is the most sought after in my experience and usually costs more. So the good thing about the freak system is that all you need is the right back for your gun and any front you buy will work with that. I have a stiffi front and an apex front for my freak system. Works really good overall, but I hear great things about the DW.
