This Northwest Player Spotlight features Jeff “JBern” Berneisel. Jeff has been a big part of OK Company for a while now. Jeff has participated in many of the scenario games held at OKC Mountain, including being general for a few. Jeff was a member of the 5 man team that took 1st place at Black Rock, as well as competed in the 3v3 pump challenge. I remember the first time I met Jeff, it was at Operation Blood Meridian back in 2008. We were on the field, and I remember seeing a green light coming from a bush. Jeff had his gigantic A5 at the time, the thing was huge! Jeff is a great player, and friend to OK Company, as well as a great part of Northwest paintball. Looking forward to playing with him

How did you get started in paintball?
I was invited to play indoor paintball at Portland PB for a friends birthday party. It only took about 5 minutes and I was HOOKED. So, I found a used Tippmann A5 on ebay and started hitting the local fields.

How long have you been playing?
Since mid 2006

How did you come to join your team?
I was searching craigslist for paintball related stuff, and I came across an ad that a group of local guys (OK Company) was looking for some players for some “backwoods ball” as I called it. I responded to the ad, got invited to come out to OKC Mountain, and the rest is history…

What do you enjoy the most about paintball?
The adrenalin rush of stalking your prey, getting that 1 shot kill when the opponent has no idea you’re even there. Or, just shooting the shit out of people like Murdoc.

What was your first paintball gun?
A Tippmann A5, which I eventually decked out with the OpsGear M82A1 kit to look like the Barrett .50 cal rifle. That thing seriously weighed like 12 lbs when I had everything installed on it. When I fired it, everyone knew where I was, but it was accurate as hell!

What are some of the big events have you attended?
I’ve played several Supergames, Black Hawk Down, TAW’s Saigon Fury and Black Rock.

What’s your most memorable paintball game situation?
Oh man… I’ve had so many awesome moments in the last couple years it’s tough to choose one. Top 3: sneaking up behind Murdoc and Bogart, firing off a couple shots, realizing my A5 wasn’t actually firing, manually loading it, and still getting them both out. Playing General for Operation Iceberg and just destroying the opposition (sorry Frog), winning the 5 man tactical tourney at Black Rock, and of course, the epic hideout battle at SG 39 (i think it was 39). That’s 4 situations… oh well.

What’s your favorite field? And why?
OKC Mountain. Home turf advantage. Other than that, it would be Sniperz Den. It’s dense wooded and swampy areas are very close to OKC Mountain, and where I can play my best game as a ghost – but it also offers alternate areas like the DMZ where I can play more tactical/rifleman when I just want to go shoot a shitload of people.

If you could own one piece of paintball equipment no matter what the price, what would it be?
I’ve got everything I need.
